The Wine Institute is proud to present the 7th edition of California Wine Month in Hong Kong which sees numerous California wine offerings throughout the summer. Through California Wine Month, the Wine Institute aims to introduce the diversity of California wines, its wine lifestyle, as well as California’s ‘Golden State of Mind’ to wine lovers and enthusiasts.
The Golden State of Mind is represented by the Wine Institute’s four brand pillars; boldness, innovation, optimism, and sustainability. Following the footsteps of the last edition, 2025 will continue to shine a spotlight on sustainability through the return of the campaign’s flagship Sips of Summer event.
The 2025 Sips of Summer event will be a weekend celebration of California wines at Sohohouse on June 21 and 22, 2025. The two-day event promises to bring a taste of California to Hong Kong through wine discoveries and sampling, guided tours by wine experts, and screenings. There will be 50+ California wines available for visitors to sample and purchase from exhibiting wine merchants, including Watson’s Wine, ASC Fine Wines, Ponti Wine Cellars, and Constellation Brands. In addition, an array of wines made in certified sustainable wineries and unavailable in Hong Kong yet that are brought to the event from California specifically will be showcased. The selection will be presented by Advanced Sommelier Alan Liu, who has extensive experience in the hospitality industry at renowned establishments, and currently F&B manager at Lai Sun Dining. This offers guests a rare opportunity to be amongst the first to taste these new wines, an opportunity not to be missed for wine lovers. Furthermore, our newly appointed California Wines Sommelier Ambassador Danny Ng, whose outstanding performance at the CWI North Asia Sommelier Bootcamp that took place mid-May won him the title, will grace the event. Danny is currently the Assistant Director of F&B at The American Club Hong Kong,
Our guided tours will be hosted by esteemed wine educator Corinne Mui, founder of CorVino Wine School; Cecilia Wong, wine educator, columnist, and TV host; and the Wine Institute’s very own Christopher Beros, director of Greater China and Southeast Asia. Each tour will highlight a selection of wines present at the event while guiding you through the characteristics of California wines.
Alongside the wine discovery, Sips of Summer features California’s sustainable winegrowing through ‘Wines on a Mission’; a curated exhibition that showcases California’s ongoing efforts and commitment in driving sustainability through water, soil, energy, and community. Being the region with the most comprehensive and widely adopted certification program in the world to promote sustainability from grape to glass, is what makes California a leading wine region in the world today. For those who want to learn more about the Golden State, short videos will also be screened throughout the event, offering visitors insights into California’s diverse geography, climate, and wine styles. There’ll also be live music performances by emerging local talent OJ Reambillo, so visitors can enjoy California wines beyond the glass. Known for his dynamic blend of R&B and hip hop, he’ll perform between 5:30pm- 6pm, and 6:30pm-7pm on both event days.
